Pool Draining, Chlorine Bath & Acid Washing

Does your pool need more than a routine cleaning? AquaCop Pools provides pool draining, chlorine baths, and acid washing to address stains, scale, and mineral buildup.

Does Your Pool Need a Deeper Clean?

Does your pool need more than a routine cleaning? Stains, algae, scale, and mineral buildup may require pool draining, a chlorine bath, or acid washing. Arizona's hard water and high evaporation can lead to mineral buildup over time. We look at the condition of your pool before recommending a deeper cleaning method.

Pool Draining

Sometimes draining your pool is the necessary first step to properly address surface issues. Before recommending a drain, we assess your pool's water chemistry and surface condition. In Arizona, pools should only be drained during appropriate weather conditions — draining during extreme heat can damage plaster surfaces.

Chlorine Bath (Superchlorination)

A chlorine bath involves draining the pool and applying high concentrations of chlorine to the exposed pool surfaces. This method is effective for killing algae that has embedded into the plaster and treating stubborn biological contamination. It's often used as a step in the green-to-clean process or when a pool has been severely neglected.

Acid Washing

Acid washing uses a diluted acid solution applied to the pool's plaster surface to dissolve and remove mineral scale, staining, and discoloration. The process removes a thin layer of plaster, revealing a cleaner surface underneath. Acid washing is recommended for pools with significant staining, calcium scale, or mineral deposits that cannot be removed by chemical treatment alone.

When Is Acid Washing the Right Choice?

  • Persistent staining that doesn't respond to chemical treatment

  • Heavy calcium or mineral scale on pool surfaces

  • Pool that has been neglected or left green for an extended period

  • Discoloration from algae that has stained the plaster

  • Before replastering to prepare the surface

Arizona's Hard Water and Your Pool Surface

Arizona has some of the hardest water in the country. High calcium and mineral content in the water, combined with high evaporation rates, causes mineral deposits to build up on pool surfaces over time. This is a common issue throughout the East Valley and something we see regularly. Regular maintenance and water chemistry management can slow buildup, but some pools eventually need a more thorough cleaning process.

We Assess Before We Recommend
